Now that we've gone over some of the top free nonprofit resume templates, let's go over a few tips on how to get the most out of your templates.
How To Make a Stunning Looking Non Profit Resume
Now that you've got your non profit resume template, you're ready to customize it. Below we've created a short tutorial for you to follow to edit your presentation.
For this tutorial, we used the premium template, Resume.

This premium non profit resume template is a one page custom document that's A4 size and uses free fonts. Let's get started:
1. Delete Unwanted Sections
Not every section in our non profit resume template will be used for our resume. Our first step will be to delete the sections that don't work for our particular resume.
The sections that you plan to add depend on the job that you're applying for and your resume content. To delete a section, simply highlight the section and click backspace.

2. Add In Your Content
The first step is going to be adding in our resume's content. We've got our resume typed out in a separate document so we can easily copy and paste in the text. Our template has placeholder text.
To replace this text, double click it. Then paste in your text. Do this for every section where you want to add content.

3. Add In Your Profile Picture
Most of the templates you download on Envato Elements have image placeholders where you can add in your profile image. On our template there's a spot in the left hand corner where we can add in our profile image.
Choose the Insert tab and then choose Pictures > Picture From File... From there, you can find the image on your computer. Then, delete the placeholder and resize your profile image.

4. Resize Your Sections
Once you've added in your content and profile image, you may need to resize a section or sections of your resume. This depends on how much information you added to your template and how it looks when you add in the content.
If you've added in a lot of content, you'll want to shrink the section. Be careful not to make it too small. If you've got a lot of information just add another page to your resume.
If you've got a small amount of content added to a section, then make the section bigger to fill up the resume.
To do this resizing, click and drag any corner of the section to your desired size.

5. Change Colors
Finally, we'll change the colors of the theme. Not every non profit resume template has the exact color scheme that you want to present. To change this color scheme, choose Design > Colors. From there, choose the color theme that you want.

We'll now go over a few design tips that you can use to improve your non profit resumes.
5 Quick Nonprofit Resume Design Tips for 2022
To help you take your non profit resumes to the next level, we'll now go over the top design tips in 2022 that you can apply to your templates:
1. Highlight Sections
By highlighting the various sections of your non profit resume, you make it look more organized and complete. To highlight the sections, color block the different headers in your resume. You can even color block the entire section.

2. Include a QR Code
QR codes are a great addition to any resume. They're an instant call to action. Your potential employers can open their phone's camera and instantly access a website without having to type in anything.
Including a QR code in the contact details redirects a potential employer to your personal website or any website that you want them to see. This increases the chances that you'll be contacted.

3. Include a Profile Section
Including a separate section on each page of your resume and cover letter for a non profit job encourages users to take action on your resume. This section should contain at least contact details and an image of yourself. This section looks great as a column that takes up a quarter of the left hand side of your resume pages.

4. Use Classic Colors
The classic black, white, and gray combination are an incredibly popular choice for your resume templates color scheme. These colors help convey professionalism and organization. The best use of these colors would be to have the background be white, your text to be black, and the highlighted elements, icons, and shapes to be gray.

5. Include Skill Bars
Skill bars help showcase your skills in a more appealing way. Rather than just including text about skills you've got and your proficiencies in each, include skill bars that visually show this. This helps break up the text in your resume and gives your potential employer something more attractive to look at.

Top 5 Design Trends for Non Profit Resumes
Having an up-to-date design on your non profit resume is important for its success. We've collected the top five design trends for you in this section. You can easily add these to your resume and deliver a stylish design.
1. Use a Dark Theme
Dark themes are incredibly popular for software and resumes. Try using a dark colored background with lighter text. This type of theme really pops out of the page. A very dark blue background looks great!

2. Create Dedicated Sections
Most resumes have an about me column and then a main section that features the rest of the resumes content.
Try creating a separate section for each type of content in your design. You can do this by simply including a box around each section. This gives your design a more unified look.
3. Create a More Engaging About Me Section
The about me section can include:
- a short paragraph
- your skills
- contact details.
This section can use a little more flavor to help it stand out. You can add in different colored backgrounds, icons, and abstract shapes.

4. Use a Timeline
Using timelines in your work experience and education sections works well. They really highlight your progression to your potential employer and look great on the design.
5. Keep It Elegant
While adding styling elements and cool color schemes work well, a classic layout always looks professional. A simple single colored and two column design does the trick.

Let's now go over some common resume questions and answers to these questions.
Common Resume Questions Answered (FAQ)
Resumes can be difficult to create. We've collected five of the most common questions about resumes and provided answers for them:
1. How Long Should the Resume Be?
Your resume should be short. A one page resume is ideal. If you've got extensive experience related to your job, then you can go longer than one page.
A short form resume helps keep your employer's attention and helps you to add only the most important information.
2. Should I Include All Work Experience?
In general, you should include all your work experience. Even if the experience isn't in the same field, it can show your ability to do a job.
But if you've got a lot of experience in the field you're applying for, then you can just include the relevant work experience.
3. Should I Include Personal Interests?
This isn't essential but can help you land the job. Personal interests help your employer understand who you are as a person.
For example, if you're really into fitness, you should include this on your resume. This likely shows that you've got a good work ethic and discipline. You can show these positive characteristics by mentioning that you're into fitness in your resume.
4. Do I Need an Objective?
If the rest of your resume doesn't convey what you'd include in your objective, then include it. If you're applying for a job that's in a different field than where you previously worked, include an objective. In general, if you feel you need a direct focus in your resume, then include an objective.
5. Should I List My Work Achievements?
Yes, you should! You should include these in the past work experiences section.
Potential employers look to see what value you've contributed to your previous company. These achievements really stand out to hiring managers and can help you land the job.
