How to Make a Pressure Washing Flyer (+ Flyer Template Ideas)

1. How to Create a Floral Pattern Background

Step 1

Create a new document in InDesign. Use the dimensions 8.5 x 11 in, 0.5 in margins, and 0.125 in bleed on each side.

Step 2

Create two new swatches by selecting the + icon in the Swatches panel and double-click each new swatch to change the colors to C38 M5 Y70 K62 and C29 M5 Y77 K39.

Step 3

Grab the Rectangle Tool (M) and cover the entire background. Expand the Gradient panel and drag and drop the two new swatches you just created to make a gradient. If you’re having trouble finding the Gradient panel, go to Window > Color > Gradient.

Step 4

Open abstract-3.jpg from the floral pattern zip file in Adobe Illustrator. With the image selected, go to the top toolbar and select Black and White under Image Trace. If a warning box pops up, select OK.

Step 5

Select Expand in the top toolbar. Double-click any white area on the floral pattern. Now, go to Select > Same > Fill Color. This should select all of the white filled-in areas. Press Delete on your keyboard.

Step 6

Select the black floral pattern and resize it by holding down the Shift key and holding down your mouse. Now, copy the pattern by selecting Command-C on your keyboard. Go back to InDesign and paste this pattern onto your background (Command-V). Double-click the yellow swatch and change the values to C0 M0 Y63 K0.

Step 7

Select the black floral pattern in InDesign and change the color to the yellow swatch. Change the Opacity in the top toolbar to 10%.

2. How to Place an Image Inside a Shape in InDesign

Step 1

Select the Pen Tool (P) and make a shape that’s similar to the image below. Fill this shape with the Paper swatch. Apply a Drop Shadow to the shape Objects > Effects > Drop Shadow.

• Distance: 0.1375 in
• Angle: 14°
• X Offset: -0.1334 in
• Y Offset: 0.0333 in
• Size: 0.5625 in

Step 2

Select the Rectangle Tool (M) and create two rectangles. Rotate these rectangles to 46.8° in the top toolbar.

Step 3

Open the pressure washing in the garden photo in Adobe Photoshop. Go to Image > Image Size, and change the Resolution to 300. Make sure Resample is unchecked. Select OK.

Step 4

Go to Image > Mode > CMYK Color. Click OK if a warning box pops up. Save this file as a TIFF.

Step 5

Repeat the previous steps with the other two photos by changing the resolution, converting the image to CMYK and saving the image as a TIFF.

Jump back over to InDesign and select the top rectangle, go to File > Place or select Command-D, and select the “pressure washing in the garden” TIFF file. Select the second rectangle and place the “worker cleaning the street” TIFF.

Step 6

Use the Pen Tool (P) and create a house icon similar to the one below.

Step 7

Place (Command-D) the last photo inside of the house icon.

3. How to Format and Arrange Text on Your Power Washing Pressure Washer Flyer Templates

Step 1

Now we will create the coupon for our power washing flyer. Select the Rectangle Tool (M) and create a yellow square above our pressure washing photos. Apply a Drop Shadow by going to Object > Effects > Drop Shadow.

• Opacity: 23%
• Distance: 0.0625 in
• Angle: 135°
• X Offset: 0.0442 in
• Y Offset: 0.0442 in
• Size: 0.3125

Step 2

Create another rectangle on top of the yellow rectangle using the Rectangle Tool (M). Change the Fill to None and the Stroke to the light green swatch. Change the stroke to a 12 pt dash.

Step 3

Use the Magdelin font and type out your coupon text for your power washing pressure washer flyer templates. I used Magdelin Bold and Black in the dark green color swatch. Use these settings for the wording:

• Power washing special: 13 pt, 200 tracking
• $25: 65 pt
• Off: 45 pt
• Your first wash: 23 pt

Use the Rectangle Tool (M) and create the dividers on the top and bottom of the word ‘OFF’.

Step 4

Add your logo to the header and type out your headline for your pressure washing flyer using the Magdelin font in the white swatch.

• Professional: Magdelin Bold, 18 pt
• Pressure Washing: Magdelin Black, 51 pt
• Commercial & Residential: Magdelin Bold, 18 pt

Step 5

Add your services to the power washing flyer template and make it two columns in the top toolbar. Create a check mark with the Pen Tool (P) using the yellow swatch.

• Our Services: Magdelin Bold, 13 pt
• List of Services: Magdelin Regular, 12 pt

Step 6

Type your free quote text and phone number using Magdelin Bold and Bold Italic. Use the Pen Tool (P) and create a slanted yellow divider.

Step 7

Near the bottom of the flyer, add the location, hours, and your tagline using Magdelin Regular, Italic, and Bold.
