In the context of design systems, a Product Design Architect provides strategic and creative direction for the design system. This person partners with executives and other cross functional leadership to scale a design system across a family of products by defining adoption, contribution, governance, quality, and partnership programs.
A Product Design Architect is a systems thinker; designing for the whole rather than the individual parts. They collaborate with design, product, and engineering teams on the tactical and strategic direction.
Responsibilities of this role include: #
- Strategic and creative direction of Design System.
- Strategic and creative direction of Design Language.
- Partnership with design, product, and engineering.
- Collaboration with designers and engineers to create portable and reusable platform solutions that power our products.
- Distilling research learnings and business problems into client journeys and experience narratives.
- Optimizing and evolving design processes and systems that are accessible and valuable to non-designers as well.
- Doing hands-on user research, design, documentation and frontend architecture work.
- Incorporating UX/UI best practices across our products.
- Mentoring and building others.
- Helping to maintain a culture of empathy, safety and belonging where all voices are heard.
- Making it possible for great designs to happen everywhere in the organization.
