Hope can be one of the most powerful forms of resistance.
I’ve been thinking a lot about what kinds of things I can do to maintain hope and joy over the coming years. And I think for me, that looks like a much bigger focus on local community. Specifically…
- Fighting against the intrusion of regressive policies at the town government and school level is probably going to be more of a need.
- Local mutual aid, as things get increasing bad for some of our friends and neighbors.
Fascism also tries to overwhelm you with you chaos. So much bad stuff happens, and it becomes impossible to keep up with all of it.
So don’t!
Pick an issue or three that you care about deeply, and focus as much of your energy as you can on those. At least, that’s what I’ll be doing.
If you need some inspiration, I found this video from Our Changing Climate to be quite useful. It’s about capitalism specifically, but I think the lessons are broadly applicable.
Stay hopeful, and look out for each other. ❤️
