Both 16 CFR 1632 and 16 CFR 1633 are testing standards for the flammability of mattresses.
Scope of application of 16 CFR 1632&16 CFR 1633 standards:including, but not limited to, adult mattresses, teen mattresses, crib mattresses (including portable crib mattresses), pillow-top mattresses, folding chairs without permanent backrests or armrests, sleeper chairs, and waterbeds or air mattresses that contain upholstery materials between the padding and the mattress core;
This definition does not include sleeping bags, pillows, mattress bases, cushions filled with liquids and gases, such as waterbeds and air mattresses, which do not contain upholstery materials between the cushion and the mattress core, upholstered furniture that does not contain removable mattresses, such as chaise longues, swing-arm seats, push-back sofas, sofa beds, etc.;
16 CFR 1632 Sample Requirements:6 surface tests should be provided, if both sides can be tested, at least 3 mattresses or mattress pads are required; If you can only test one side, you will need 6 mattresses or mattress pads;
16 CFR 1633 Sample Requirements:3 samples are provided for testing;
16 CFR 1632 Test Procedure:
- After the sample is pre-treated, place at least 18 cigarettes on the surface of the sample use. Nine of them were exposed to the air, and the other nine were placed and covered with standard cloth.
- 3 cigarettes need to be placed in each different product structure such as plane, edge banding, groove, etc.
- The length of the scorch marks of the sample burned by cigarettes should not exceed 2in. 16 CFR 1633 Test Procedure:
- Turn on the AC power, the top flame is set to 70s, and the side flame is set to 50s;
- Place the burner on the specimen;
- The test time is 30 minutes;
