We chatted with Kimberly to learn how long she has been with Vispero, how she got started in graphic design, and the name of her cat.

Q&A with Kimberly

How long have you been with Vispero?

Kimberly: A little over 2 years.

What was your title/role when you started and what is it now?

K: Graphic Designer, still Graphic Designer

What initially drew you to your field, and how has that passion evolved over time?

K: I could draw before I could write my own name when I was little. I’ve always had an appreciation for expression through artistic mediums whether that be drawing, painting, music, or writing. Some of my favorite memories as a child were of my great aunt babysitting me. She always made sure I indulged in whatever artistic or crafty endeavor we could dream up together. However, only at the age of 29 did I finally decide to pursue a creative career as a real, viable career option and worked as a Creative Marketing Manager for a hospitality group for 10 years.

What recent accomplishment at work has you feeling most energized?

K: Bringing that big shark arch to life for CSUN.

Have you ever had to learn a new skill quickly to meet project demands? How did you manage?

K: I’m well versed in Adobe programs but haven’t really used Premiere or Audition often. When I was producing the short demo videos for some of the hardware products, I had the opportunity to dive into those rather quickly.

What are you most passionate about outside of work?

K: I love food and cooking. Food is culture and culture is food. Anytime I travel, you can bet I plan the trip mostly around food and food experiences.

Do you have any hidden talents or unique hobbies? Share them with us!

K: I drive a vintage 1973 Chevrolet C10 Pick-up truck which I inherited in 2017. My precious little black cat, Velina, rides with me, and yes, she actually enjoys it 90% of the time! I started car and leash training her at 13 weeks old. She loves going on walks! Also, I was a foreign language major in college, and I still love studying and practicing foreign languages – specifically Italian and Spanish. My opinion – we do not stress foreign language study and usage in this country enough. I wish I had more opportunities to practice them IRL, so instead I read books and consume content on social media to keep my brain fed by both languages.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

K: Italy is on the list sooner than later, but I’m weird and I like to do offbeat stuff sometimes. I’d like to go to Antarctica just to say I’ve been to Antarctica.

What’s your favorite aspect of our company culture?

K: Everyone is really collaborative.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

K: Pour into your own cup before you try to fill someone else’s.

You have a time machine! Would you travel to the past or the future, and why?

K: Neither. You can’t change the past, you only have right now, and only you can change the future. Time is not real.
