Hey everyone! Quick but important update from Team Story Hero. Today was a turning point.

Daniel’s Breakthrough – Development Builds in Bolt?!

So… remember how we thought we were stuck using Expo Go inside Bolt.new?

WRONG.

Today, I (Daniel) figured out that you can run Expo Development Builds in Bolt.new — and that’s a game-changer. Up until now, all the Bolt documentation and examples seemed locked into Expo Go, which doesn’t support things like RevenueCat (and yeah, we really need that).

But now that we know Development Builds work inside Bolt, we can officially integrate RevenueCat’s latest SDK and Paywall v2 beta into the app — which is 🔑 for the “Make More Money” challenge we’re aiming for.

The new goal: get a fully functioning build ready by the end of this weekend and submitted to the iOS App Store for review.

Why the rush?

We’re building this app for children, which means COPPA compliance is absolutely essential. Apple and Google will (rightfully) scrutinize every detail to ensure it’s safe for kids. That means the review process could delay us — and we’re trying to avoid a last-minute surprise. Submitting early gives us time to handle any feedback or issues before the hackathon wraps.

We’re aiming to:

  • ✅ Launch on iOS and Android
  • ✅ Pass store review for kid-safe content
  • ✅ Start getting actual subscribers
  • ✅ All within 30 days

It’s ambitious, but with this dev build unlock — it’s actually possible.

Josh’s Progress – Landing Page, Go!

While Daniel was wrangling SDKs and navigating app store landmines, I (Josh) started building the landing page directly in Bolt. First impressions matter, and we want Story Hero to look like something people would actually pay for — because that’s the plan. 😉

Even in these early stages, Bolt is helping us move incredibly fast. The combo of visual building + AI + just enough code is honestly making us feel like we have superpowers.

Every day we get closer to launch. This isn’t just a side project anymore — we’re building a real business that helps kids learn, grow, and imagine again.

Thanks for following along. ❤️

More updates coming soon (and hopefully some screenshots of the app running live).
