Generative AI (genAI) is changing how we work, and UX research (UXR) is no exception. So far, most of the spotlight has been on content creation, but genAI has significant potential to reshape how we plan studies, understand users, and evaluate designs. This article lays out a roadmap for exploring that potential, by outlining four major research areas.

As an industry, we are facing a flood of critical new research questions introduced by AI. UX researchers must explore the open questions around how genAI changes what we study and how we study it.
