Chief of War takes you on an epic journey through late-18th-century Hawai‘i, following warrior Ka’iana (Jason Momoa) as he fights to unite the islands before Western colonization. This nine-episode Apple TV+ mini-series—also starring Luciane Buchanan, Temuera Morrison, Cliff Curtis and more—premieres globally on August 1 with two episodes, then drops a new chapter every Friday through September 19.
Produced by FIFTH SEASON and Chernin Entertainment, the show is led by showrunner Doug Jung, with Jason Momoa directing the finale and Justin Chon helming the first two episodes. Grammy and Oscar winner Hans Zimmer co‐composed the sweeping score with James Everingham for Bleeding Fingers Music, ensuring a powerful, indigenous-focused retelling of Hawaiian unification.
