This July marks the 35th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Signed into law on July 26, 1990, by President George H.W. Bush, the ADA transformed the landscape of civil rights by protecting individuals with disabilities from discrimination and ensuring equal access in all areas of public life.
Whether it’s employment, education, transportation, or public spaces, the ADA has been a driving force in making our communities more inclusive and accessible. Its definition of disability includes individuals with physical or mental impairments; helping ensure broad and meaningful protections.
As technology and society have evolved, so has the ADA. In 2008, the ADA Amendments Act (ADAAA) was signed into law by President George W. Bush to reinforce and expand the ADA’s protections. These updates help ensure the law keeps pace with modern challenges, addressing digital accessibility and more.
We’re proud to support the ADA and its mission of equity and inclusion. We celebrate this groundbreaking legislation and the progress it continues to inspire in creating a more accessible world.
