Hey all,
A whole lot of you out there – 7 out of 10, in fact – are feeling stressed or overwhelmed while browsing the web. And so for this year’s World Mindfulness Day, we conducted a survey with Oxford Mindfulness to find out more.

The research on the effectiveness of daily mindfulness practices is clear: as little as ten minutes a day can improve wellbeing and ease symptoms of depression and anxiety. Despite that, more than 50% of those surveyed aren’t currently engaging in any mindfulness practices.
More hopefully, our study revealed that there is widespread public interest in mindfulness, with 94% of our respondents open to giving a brief mindfulness exercise a try – simple, self-guided practices like breathing exercises or meditation.
And with an overload of screentime, finding that moment to stop, breath, and refresh has never been more critical. We found that 70% of adults spend a minimum of 4 hours a day in front of a screen at work, while 68% consume at least 2 more hours at home. That’s a lot of screentime for our 7 in 10 who feel stressed and overwhelmed by it.
The online world being the source of so much stress, it makes sense that it should also be part of the solution. Currently, however, only 39% of people said that they’re using digital tools to help improve their mental health – tools like Opera Air.

Mindful Browsing with Opera Air
If you’re new here, Opera Air is a browser designed to promote mindfulness and reduce stress. With the built-in mindfulness features Take a Break and Boosts only a click away, it makes it easy for you to integrate mindfulness right into your daily browsing routines.

Take a Break offers breathing exercises, neck stretches, meditations, and full body scans that last between 3 and 16 minutes. It also lets you set reminders to step away and take a mindful break across the course of your day.
Boosts are research-backed soundscapes that play directly from the browser. The feature uses binaural beats – an auditory technique where different frequencies in each ear create a third frequency in the brain – to help influence brainwave activity and relieve stress, channel focus, or enhance creativity.
You can adjust each aspect of a Boost – the ambient sounds, background music, and frequency of the binaural beat – to customize your experience, and you can share your favorite Boosts with friends. I’m partial to the lo-fi, jazzy feel of Mental Clarity myself – and, of course, the sharpness it brings into my day. Whatever your preference, Boosts are designed to be listened to while you browse to offer a non-disruptive way to improve your mental state. So take the first step toward easing that digital stress in a mindful way – download Opera Air.
