Q&A with Anthony Priore

What is your current role at Vispero?

Anthony: Digital Marketing Manager

If you could describe your work at Vispero in three words, what would they be and why?

A: Communicating. Strategizing. Learning.

A lot of my job is testing various strategies and determining what is working and what isn’t. There is a lot of adjusting and iterating to find the most successful plan and convey the most valuable information and content to everyone.

How did you first become interested in assistive technology or accessibility?

A: I have learned so much about assistive technology and accessibility because of Vispero. The company is based on strong values and meaningful causes, and I am so proud and honored to call myself a part of that. It’s allowed me to grow as a professional and become a better person as I develop new relationships and continue to educate myself in the community.

What drew you to Vispero, and how has your journey with the company evolved over time?

A: Vispero stands for something special, and I found myself called to assist them right from the start. Applying my skills and knowledge to the company’s mission makes logging onto work each day something I look forward to. I have become a better marketer and a more informed ally over my 3 years here.

What’s one project or product you’ve worked on at Vispero that you’re especially proud of?

A: I am especially proud of my work at CSUN and helping facilitate Vispero’s presence at the show each year. It’s an opportunity to share ideas and work with industry leaders in the space, while spreading knowledge and our company’s mission.

How would you describe the team culture within your department or across Vispero as a whole?

A: I think the team culture both in my department and across Vispero is uplifting and helpful. Everyone is excited to come to work every day and help one another be the best they can. It’s so easy to ask for help or to bounce ideas off someone which fosters an inclusive and exciting environment.

What’s one skill or perspective you’ve gained from working in the accessibility space?

A: I think some skills I have gained from working in the accessibility space include improving how I write alt text and being keenly aware of color contrast in images. Being so heavily involved in the social media and website presence, these are incredibly important, and I am now mindful of in everything I do.

What are you most passionate about outside of work?

A: I love spending time with my friends, family, and rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers!

What are you currently learning about (either professionally or personally)?

A: I am currently learning how to stain my deck!

What’s an assistive technology product you think more people should know about?

A: I think people should learn more about is JAWS screen reader! It enables so many people to read and navigate digital content.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone new to the accessibility or assistive tech field?

A: One piece of advice I would give someone new to accessibility is to be willing to learn and listen! We are making the world a better place and it’s incredibly fulfilling to understand how and be a part of it.

You have a time machine! Would you travel to the past or the future, and why?

A: I think I would travel to the past so I could see historic events firsthand!
