If someone told me a few years ago that I would publish 40+ books on AI, coding, automation, and productivity, and many would become bestsellers, I would have laughed.
Why?
Because I wasn’t a “traditional” coder or a published author when I began.
I just believed in learning, simplifying, and sharing.
Here’s what this journey taught me, and how anyone (developer or not) can publish meaningful technical books today.
1️⃣ You Don’t Need to Be the “Expert”: You Need to Be the Guide
Readers don’t want jargon.
They want clarity.
When I wrote my first AI and coding books, my goal wasn’t to prove how much I knew; it was to explain what I was learning in a simple, actionable way.
People don’t read technical books to admire the author.
They read to improve themselves.
If you can shorten someone’s learning curve, you’re already valuable.
2️⃣ AI Became My Co-Author, Not My Replacement
I used ChatGPT to:
- structure chapters
- generate examples
- explain complex concepts simply
- create practice exercises
- refine writing tone
But the insights, structure, and intent were mine.
AI accelerates the writing process, but your perspective gives the book its soul.
3️⃣ Simplicity Beats Technical Depth (Every Time)
One of the biggest myths:
“A technical book must be complex to be valuable.”
Wrong.
The most loved chapters were the ones where I broke down difficult concepts into:
- Analogies
- Visual explanations
- Step-by-step use cases
- Real examples
Developers, educators, and entrepreneurs all wrote back saying:
“This was the first time I actually understood it.”
Clarity > Complexity.
4️⃣ Treat Books Like Products, Not Projects
Most authors write a book and move on.
I do the opposite.
I treat books like living products that evolve, improve, and expand.
Here’s what helped:
- Release v1 → gather reader feedback
- Add new prompts, examples, updated screenshots
- Refresh editions as the tech evolves That’s why my books remain relevant and continue bringing sales globally.
5️⃣ Your First Book Changes How the World Sees You
Publishing a book, especially in tech, builds trust at another level:
- You stand out instantly
- People see you as a thought leader
- Opportunities find you
Books opened doors to:
- consulting
- brand growth
- collaborations
- speaking sessions
It became not just income, but influence capital.
Final Thought
If you’re waiting to “be ready” before writing your book, you’ll wait forever.
Start with what you know today.
Explain it better than anyone else.
Share your learning journey openly.
Your book doesn’t need to be perfect.
It needs to be useful, honest, and human.
And if I could do it without being a traditional coder, so can you with the right mindset and the right AI support.
