Hello Everyone!

  • Do you enjoy encouraging and educating others about accessibility?
  • Are you wanting a way to pay forward the accessibility knowledge others
    shared with you?
  • Are you looking for a way to continue sharpening your accessibility skills
    and knowledge?

Well, I have just the opportunity for you!

The Accessibility Internet Rally (AIR) is a virtual contest where development teams compete to create the most accessible and beautiful site for various non-profit organizations. Each
year the contest demonstrates that beautiful sites can also be accessible sites! It also has been a great way to educate teams on creating accessible sites.

One of the reason’s AIR is so successful in its goals is due to its mentors.
While AIR makes accessibility information and training available to all of the teams, mentors are there to answer any questions or provide guidance on accessibility. As a mentor, you are assigned a team. The time involvement is around an hour a week. My personal experience is that the time involved is around that for teams inexperienced with accessibility and much less if the team
has some knowledge of accessibility.

If you are interested in being a mentor, you can read more about it and sign up here

I would also be glad to answer questions about it-and there are plenty of others here who can share their experience with you as well.

P.S., If you are not ready to mentor, you may want to consider joining a team or starting your own team. It is another great way to participate in AIR.
