Last week we introduced the Opera Deep Research Agent (ODRA), our new AI agent within Opera Neon for in-depth research and analysis. The excitement from you – our community of founders – has been incredible, and we’ve been working hard to get it into your hands. Well, we’re thrilled to announce that ODRA has been fully deployed and is available for all Opera Neon founders!
Let’s rewind for a moment: what is ODRA?
For those of you who missed the initial announcement, ODRA is the new AI agent that’s joining Opera Neon – alongside with the already existing Chat, Do, and Make. As its name suggests, it’s a deep research agent designed to save you countless hours of manual searching and source validation. ODRA dives deep into your research questions, checking several sources to craft comprehensive, structured reports that are completed with references. It’s like having a team of researchers at your disposal, right in your browser.
Why is deep research necessary in Opera Neon?
As a premium product, Opera Neon brings you the most advanced AI agents under a single subscription, a single interface, and a single browser. In that context, a deep research agent is something that we consider necessary in order to give you the capability of going beyond simple summaries.
What we mean is that web search tools – even some AI ones – can’t truly research. They tend to make long summaries, but they don’t reason, compare, or synthesize across sources like real researchers do.
The solution? The first browser-native deep research system that runs multi-agent reasoning in parallel. It’s LLM-agnostic, combining multiple models (GPTs, Gemini, etc.) through Opera’s AI Engine to get the most complete, accurate answer — with citations, evaluation, and synthesis. Additionally, ODRA uses Opera’s RACE framework (Reference-based Adaptive Criteria-driven Evaluation) to ensure quality and factual grounding.
So, picture it this way: you want to start researching a topic and, naturally, go to your browser – which is the access point to most of the information humans have ever produced. But now, your browser is more than just the access point, it also acts as the librarian that brings you the right books and information for you to get on the right path. But not only that, it also has the capacity to contrast the information it’s gathering for you, validating it and bringing forth what’s truly relevant. That means that you’ve got an incredible headstart when it comes to becoming more of an expert in your field of research.
Finally, you can also download the research from Opera Neon as a PDF file, which makes it ideal for reading on-the-go, sharing with your peers, or adding it to your reference manager software.
You can read more about the way in which Opera’s Deep Research Agent works in the blog post from last week where we have some more detailed information for you.
The future of browsing is multi-agent
The deployment of ODRA marks a significant milestone in our vision for Opera Neon. We see the future of agentic browsing as an interactive space between you and AI agents. With four AI agents now at your disposal, we’re solidifying the role of Opera Neon as the OS for AI agents – and we’re just getting started, there are more to come!
Your turn to go deep with Opera Neon
For all of you who already have access to Opera Neon, ODRA is available starting today. We look forward to the feedback you might have to the exclusive channels for founders. And if you haven’t been able to join the Opera Neon experience yet, you can sign up for the waitlist at https://www.operaneon.com.
