About NN/G
NN/G is a globally trusted UX consultancy and recognized as an industry leader for over 25 years. We provide evidence-based UX research findings, guidelines, and practical skill-building through articles, videos, in-depth training courses, and consulting.
Our mission is to help the world learn about UX by empowering professionals to level up their work and careers. Our insights are grounded in evidence, not hype, and are designed to help practitioners and organizations improve their work and achieve their goals.
We are a small, fully-remote company with a passionate team. Join us as we shape the future of training UX professionals.
About This Role
We’re expanding NN/G’s course offerings and we’re looking for an experienced UX generalist to help us scale that library without compromising quality. You’ll review course proposals, scripts, activities, quizzes, and other supporting materials to ensure the guidance is accurate, actionable, and applicable to real work. You’ll partner with instructors, designers, and producers to improve clarity and usefulness. Success in this role looks like timely, well-scoped, and frequent releases of courses that UX learners consistently rate as immediately useful for their day-to-day work challenges.
This role is a good fit if you’re a strong reader and writer who evaluates UX guidance with pragmatic judgment honed from experience. You have high standards for usefulness and can quickly spot advice that sounds polished but won’t hold up in real projects. You also know how to deliver feedback without demoralizing others or derailing momentum.
This role is not focused on hands-on research and design work. Instead, you’ll focus on leveraging your expertise to help instructors teach effectively. Your efforts will influence and subsequently shape what thousands of UX professionals learn.
Responsibilities
- Critique proposals for pre-recorded courses for their practicality and applicability to real-world problems faced by today’s UX professionals
- Critique course scripts to improve their insightfulness and clarity
- Create and revise quiz questions to ensure rigor
- Mentor and coach fellow UX professionals to deliver best-in-class courses
- Enrich course material with realistic examples or research insights
- Provide timely status updates for multiple courses at various stages of production
- Lead or assist with user research involving asynchronous learners
Goals for This Role
Here’s a preview of what you can expect in this role:
In your first 30 days: meet your team collaborators, learn our instructional design approach and templates, and begin shadowing course critiques.
60 days: deliver several impactful critiques of course materials, successfully collaborate with team members and course creators on content decisions, apply project tracking methods.
90 days: ensure the on-time delivery of at least 1 high-quality course that meets our instructional design standards.
1 year: independently lead critiques of multiple courses concurrently. Develop new process and template improvements that balance course quality and creation efficiency. Assist with UX research with asynchronous learners.
Must-Have Qualifications
- A minimum of 8 years of professional experience in UX, CX, human-computer interaction, or a design-related field
- Proven expertise and impact using a variety of UX design and research methodologies
- Expert-level written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to process both familiar and unfamiliar UX topics and share candid feedback
- Demonstrated effectiveness in mentoring others to grow professionally
- Highly capable with project management practices
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
Past experience in the following areas isn’t required, but would help you excel in this role:
- Familiarity with several industries (ex., healthcare, finance, consumer) or types of UX roles (ex., consulting, in-house)
- Creating videos or training courses about UX topics
- Teaching students or professional learners about UX topics
- Training in instructional design theory and best practices
Every applicant is unique, and people can professionally develop UX expertise from a diverse set of backgrounds and experiences. While we believe these qualifications will be valuable in this role, we are open to applicants who may not meet all of them. Read our guidance on this issue and don’t sell yourself short.
